Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter was an American actress who became famous in the film Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. She won several awards including an Oscar for her role in the film Piano. The successful actress began her acting career on the stage by performing in a myriad of Broadway and Off-Broadway projects. She has always had an interest in acting ever since she started high school. Her first role in a production in fifth grade was Helen Keller. Mumps caused her to be deaf and blind in one ear, but she didn't let this to hinder her ambitions of becoming an actress. She studied drama at college after which she moved between Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City to follow her dreams. Hunter was trapped in the elevator of the playwright Beth Henley when she met her. They worked together to write Broadway Crimes of the Heart which marked Hunter's Broadway debut. Following her move into Los Angeles she tried to get film roles and bagged a supporting role on Swing Shift. For the past 30 years she's appeared in numerous TV shows and films. Holly Hunter is a Hollywood Walk of Fame star as well as a winner of the Women in Film Lucy Award.
