Holly Hunter is an American actor and producer who is well-known for her highly laudable performance in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. The movie Piano earned her numerous awards, among them an Oscar. In her early years, the accomplished actress began acting on stage in several Broadway or Off-Broadway productions. Passionate about acting since the time she was in school, she portrayed Helen Keller in a play during the 5th grade. Her mumps left her blind and deaf in the one ear. But she refused to let that to hinder her ambitions of becoming an actor. She studied drama at college after which she moved between Pittsburgh and moved to New York City to follow her dreams. She ran into Beth Henley in an elevator and they collaborated on Broadway Crimes of the Heart which was Hunter's debut film. When she moved to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to find film roles. An supporting role was securing for her in Swing Shift. In the last three decades, she has appeared on numerous TV shows and films. Holly Hunter won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
